Santa Cruz Wedding Treats

Last October I made treats for the dessert table for a friend’s Santa Cruz Beach Wedding. Unfortunately I was not able to make it to the wedding because it was out of town and during the week. Another friend who was in the wedding party delivered the goodies for me, but I forgot to take any photos before I handed them over. The wedding photos just came in, so I wanted to share the treats now!

I made 2 different flavors of mini cupcakes. The tiffany blue ones were bubblegum flavored (see here) and the pale yellow ones were lemonade flavored (see here).20130323-153022.jpg

Of course I also made cookies. The couple has a beloved boxer that actually took part in the ceremony and was in all the pictures. The bride asked for cookies of their pup, and this is what I came up with.

I had a hard time trying to get the facial features down, so I decided to stick to the basic outline and the coloring. (He has pale grey spots on his body.)

The wedding favors were classic S’more Pops (see here and here). I made simple little tags with the Bride and Groom’s name and their wedding date.

Thanks Katie for letting me use your pictures! Like I mentioned, I forgot to take photos of these treats… all photo credits go to Grandeur Photography.

Flavored Homemade Mallows

So I have been a little marshmallow crazy lately, thanks to Shauna Sever‘s book Marshmallow Madness. Instead of drawing this out, I thought I would just share some pictures of the many mallows I have been creating lately…

Milk Chocolate (my brother’s favorite):

Key Lime Pie:

Bubblegum (my coworkers’ favorite):

Vanilla (my husband’s favorite), but pretty colors:

So far my favorite is funfetti!

Bubblegum Cupcakes

I was inspired and intrigued by this photo. When I was younger, I was in love with this blue bubblegum flavored ice cream at the nearest waterpark. It had real gumballs throughout. So naturally when I saw a bubblegum cupcake, I wanted to create it myself!

Whenever I make cupcakes now,  I put my batter in piping bags so that I don’t make a mess when filling my liners. A big ziploc bag would work too, just cut one of the corners.

The actual cupcakes didn’t come out as pink as I wanted, but at least I had good pink liners on them.

Look how pink I got my frosting! I used my normal buttercream recipe, but substituted half of the vanilla for bubblegum flavoring.

I had to get gumballs to decorate them. Apparently it’s hard to find gumballs in all the stores around here. This is how I had to buy them.

They turned out pretty cute. Too bad I work during all daylight hours and couldn’t get better lighting for these photos!

The taste? Exactly like bubblegum. It’s good. A little weird because it’s so much like bubblegum, that you expect what’s in your mouth to be chewy. Very strange sensation, worth a bite!
