Jack-O-Lantern Cookie Dough Pops

20131021-140530.jpg

Another cookie dough craving hit me.

To change it up, I used mini M&M’s this time instead of chocolate chips.

I rolled them into balls and froze them like usual, then my husband and I ate most of them.

I have no shame.

With only 10 balls remaining, I finally got around to finishing them.

I dipped pop sticks into green candy melts, making sure to get the candy melts up a little higher than I usually would. Once I stuck them into the balls, a little green poked out, making the pumpkin’s stem.

Then I dipped the rest of the ball into orange candy melts and let it set up.

Using a black food coloring pen, I drew silly and scary jack-o-lantern faces on them.

Easy and cute! (And yummy. Duh.)

… and here are a couple more pics of my Halloween adventures so far. And the reason why this is the only treat I have time to make thus far…

Trick (or Treat) Cupcakes

Sooo this isn’t exactly a recipe, just an awesome idea I had that I wanted to share.

I made these cupcakes for my Halloween party over the weekend. Plain white mini cupcakes are the perfect vehicle for fun flavored frostings… and much easier than making multiple flavors of cake AND frosting.

20121028-160006.jpg

The TRICK here for these special Halloween cupcakes is that the flavors I used do not match the bright Halloween colors!

Tasters didn’t know what to expect from an innocent little looking cupcake… and then BAM! Surprise flavor explosion!

The orange ones are strawberry, and the green ones are cinnamon!

20121028-160025.jpg

The only problem that we ended up with is that the strawberry ones had to be eaten first, otherwise the cinnamon totally overpowered your taste buds and you couldn’t taste the next one.

These were so much fun and I know I will be doing this again… it’s fun to be able to TRICK somebody with a TREAT!

In addition to regular food, I also made Fun & Easy No-Icing Sugar Cookies, Homemade Kettle Corn, and something else that I am still perfecting, so no recipe yet…

Halloween Cookies

Nothing special or out of the ordinary, just wanted to share the few Halloween cookies I was able to make this year.

Halloween Treats!

Here all all the Halloween treats I made. These were for our annual Halloween party and for my work potluck. Cookies also went to my husband’s work per special request. They always see pictures, but hadn’t had the chance to taste them until today!

I made Cake Pops… (These are funfetti, with some leftover green frosting from the Pumpkin Cupcakes I made a few days ago. The result was a green center to these little pops!)

Chocolate dipped marshmallows…

… and of course lots of cookies!

Pumpkins…

and I did some on sticks for testing purposes… I ended up having to do a double cookie, with the stick in between. I roll thinner than most people, and without the second cookie it was way to much of a ‘bump.’

Ghosts…

Spider Webs…

Tombstones…

Frankensteins… (who are happy!)

Bats…

Witch shoes… (which are my version of this idea from Sugar Belle)… my laces ended up soaking up some of the black from the shoes. 😦 Oh well, you get the idea…

Candy corn…

Skeletons… (from my gingerbread man cookie cutter by the way)

Cauldrons…

and a couple Boo!’s 🙂

Here is a photo of the tray my husband took to work with him:

Halloween is one of my favorite cookie holidays… I just wish I could have had a little more time this year. Moving + holiday is a lot of work! Thankfully I will have a minor lull before it gets cRaZyCrAzY for Christmas!! Which is in less than 2 months for those who are trying to block it out! 🙂

Pumpkin Cupcakes

Halloween cupcake time! These were for kids attending a Christian school, so they couldn’t be anything scary… No jack-o-lanterns, bats, spiders, ghosts, etc. Instead we did just regular pumpkins, without the faces.

I used the same technique for these pumpkins as the paw prints from my Puppy Cupcakes. This time I wanted to add some sprinkles. (Kids love sprinkles!)

Outline the pumpkin…

Fill it all in…

Swish it all around with a toothpick to make it smooth…

Cover it in sprinkles, and shove a little topper in it…

These are the giant confetti sprinkles I used for the toppers. My husband broke them perfectly for me so that they would look like stems.

Aren’t they gorgeous? I got very excited about these 🙂

I found these awesome cupcake boxes at the baking store.

All packed up safely ready to go to school!
