Curious George Cookies

Dalton just turned 1! Theme was Curious George. I love how these turned out!

I ended up not having to buy any specialty cutters for this set. The 1 and ballon I already had on hand. The bananas and monkies were made with different size circle cutters. The monkies I just added small circles (for ears) to the sides of a larger circle. Here is how I did the bananas:

I wanted to keep the set simple but still have bold colors. Sprinkles on the 1’s really brought it all together. As much as I love sprinkles I don’t use them often enough on my cookies!

For the monkies I used premade candy eyes. Really made them stand out and saved me so much time.

Happy Birthday little Dalton!

Racecar Cookies

I bought a 3D printed racecar cutter that was going to be PERFECT for these racecar cookies for Syler’s Hotwheels party. When it came time to cut and bake the cookies, I pulled out the cutter and it had somehow gotten warped! Like unfixable, way too skinny, crooked warped.

Onto Plan B. I’ve had this 57 Chevy cutter since way back when – when I made 300 of them. It is way too long and fancy for racecars, so I had to do quite some trimming. I used my warped cutter as a reference.

I outlined in black to make the colors POP.

Then filled them in a bright blue.

I added window and tires, then red rims and a big red 4. Because Syler is 4! (Remember when he was 3? and 2? and 1?) I can’t believe I’ve had the privilege of making cookies for every birthday he’s had!

Happy Birthday Syler!

Superhero Treats

Alex just turned 3! Last year he had a circus themed party (last year’s treats can be seen here).

I have to share the invite for the party, it’s just too cute! It was also the inspiration for the cookies.

invite

I made cupcakes of all different colors with superhero toppers…

And cookies as favors for the guests (who all dressed up as superheros!).

For the cookies I played around on the computer until I found 3 different fonts I liked. Then I just eyeballed it as I piped on the words. The black makes them pop against all the bright colors.

Here is a picture of them all set out at the party. The big cake in the middle was made by Alex’s mama (so cute!).

Sesame Street Birthday

Drew just turned 1! He was still in the belly for the baby celebration that I made the green onesies for from this post.

The party theme was Sesame Street, and I got to make all the treats!

Of course there had to be character cookies. I don’t have the cutters, so I made do with what I had. Cookie Monster and Elmo were created with a flower cutter and an egg cutter. For Big Bird I just bent my balloon cutter a bit to make the beak straight.

For these characters, I knew black outlining was the way to go. It really make the features and colors pop.

As always, I free-handed the designs. Cuz that’s how I roll.

Last minute I decided I had to have cookie cereal to go on the cookie monster cookies. I got the idea from cupcakes like this that I’m sure just about everyone has seen at some point. It’s pretty genius whoever thought of it!

I also made cupcakes in the same colors as the characters. Piped simple swirls, and make custom cupcake toppers.

My husband actually made them on the computer for me and I just cut and put them together. 🙂

My most favorite part was the smash cake! Mama asked for it to be Cookie Monster, so I swirled it in bright blue frosting and piped the happy little face on the top.

Then I stuck cookie cereal to the sides. 🙂

Mama said Drew loved his cake. Once he got started, it was hard to get him to stop!

Scooby Doo Cookies

This may be the most intimidating set of cookies I have ever agreed to do… but it turned out one of the best!

Matthew was having a Scooby Doo party and his mom Michelle surprised him with these matching cookies!

I made Scooby faces….

Scooby Snacks (bones) which topped the birthday cupcakes (I did not make the cupcakes; mom added them when she got home).

…and Mystery Machines! These were tough and may have almost made me crazy, but all that goes out the window when they turn out so cute!

I’m so glad Michelle and Matthew loved their cookies. They’re definitely going to stick with me!

Tool Cookies

Remember this baby shower? Can you believe that this little guy turned 1 already? Craziness how time flies!

Mama had a hard time coming up with a birthday theme idea, but somehow she thought of Tools! Perfect for him!

I am so in love with these cookies.

The colors were pulled from the plates she bought for the party.

I also made the lil guy a smash cake.

Simple and easy since it ended up like this anyway:

Blue’s Clues Party

The baby that was in the belly at this baby shower (more treats here) just turned 1!

Blue’s Clues was the theme, so we made lots of blue sweet treats!

Of course there had to be cookies. These were bagged and used as favors.

20120824-201052.jpg

I made cake pops, but we wanted them to have puppy paws on them. I came up with the idea of using an oreo pop mold that I found online. I will definitely be using this technique again!

I did the paw print darker blue. I squeezed candy melts into the paw print, then tapped the tray to settle it into the mold. This also helped get all the air bubbles out. Tapping is key! Then I put these in the fridge for a few minutes to harden up.

20120824-201106.jpg 20120824-201112.jpg 20120824-201119.jpg

With the lighter blue I squeezed a layer across the bottom of the mold. Then tap tap tap!

20120824-201130.jpg 20120824-201139.jpg

I mixed up the cake pop dough like normal, but instead of rolling it into balls I flatted it into a thick pancake and cut circles out of it with a circle cookie cutter. Then I just dropped a disk of cake into each mold and gently pressed it into the candy melts.

20120827-105944.jpg 20120827-105951.jpg 20120824-201145.jpg

Then I just squeezed more candy melts around the cake and across the top, tapped it against the counter, and popped it into the fridge to harden up.

20120824-201157.jpg 20120824-201203.jpg 20120824-201211.jpg

Once they had hardened completely (maybe 20 minutes?) they came out of the molds really easily.

Look how fancy they look!!

20120827-110051.jpg

I also made the little guy his very own smash cake… that will be forthcoming!
