Love & Marriage Cookies

Sticking with the elegant theme of black and white, I made these Love and Wedding Cookies as the favors for a bridal shower.

20130115-110018.jpg

I bought the Love cutter late last year and have been eager to use it ever since. I had a hard time figuring out the font to work with the shape, but I’m happy with how they turned out. I might tweak it a little next time.

The next cookies were packaged together. The mom of the bride-to-be asked for a dress cookie, but since I didn’t have a cutter for that, I came up with this idea. She fell in love with it and so did I!

Simple lines and details, but still elegant enough for a wedding (or shower in this case).

I am also linking up these cookies to Lilaloa‘s Colorless Challenge!

Colorless Lingerie

I have made lingerie cookies a couple times before. Once for Valentine’s Day last year, and again for a bridal shower last summer.

Since then I acquired a new corset cutter, so I had a new design to work with this time. It will take some practice playing with it, but I am pretty happy with the couple that I did.

I also used this opportunity to go for the Colorless Challenge proposed by Georganne of Lilaloa.

It was hard… you have no idea how bad I wanted to throw in some hot pink or bright blue!

Mustache Cookie Pops

Mustaches are “in.”

Don’t know how something like that became a trend, but they’re everywhere!

AD loves mustaches. So for her birthday we put together some fun mustache pops!

20130102-151511.jpg

I only have 1 mustache cutter, which I used for my Lorax Cookies early last year. I used this cutter, along with a couple others to come up with a few different creative mustache shapes.

My new favorite way to ice cookies is to pour the icing over them over bowl like this:

20130102-151559.jpg

I make sure all the sides are covered, then just tap the excess off. Once it starts to set a bit, I move them to a wax paper lined baking sheet.

20130102-151606.jpg

I used this method to ice the small cookies I made here and here.

Then I just added some details with black and brown buttercream. (This was the fun part!)

Giants Birthday Cookies

Zach (who I made these cookies for last year) is now 7!

He wanted a Giants themed party, so I went to town with my baseball cutters.

I made the traditional baseballs and bats, as well as baseball hats for the first time.

Per tradition, I also made Z’s and 7′s in matching colors. Good thing it’s also Halloween season, I found these black and orange sprinkles that went perfectly with the Giants colors!

20120924-083225.jpg

The jersey cookie was made especially for Zach. As soon as I brought the cookies over, he wanted to eat it immediately! **Zach actually told me later that I spelled the last name wrong. Oops!**

I also made these awesome SF Giants colored bridges, since the “bridge” is such a huge part of San Francisco, whether it’s the Bay Bridge or the Golden Gate, or any of the others.

See that SF symbol up there? I have made them before, but this time I decided to freehand it.

I started with a basic thin line…

Then shaped around it until I had the right angles and edges!

Here are all of the cookies together, ready for the party!

High School Graduation Cookies

A young lad in a family that we are very close to graduated high school (from my high school!) last week. He is the youngest son of my old swim coach. I offered to make cookies for his graduation party, and his mom gladly accepted.

I was discussing designs with my mom, and I knew I wanted to do something swimming related because the entire family was very immersed in the swimming world. My mom told me that he was “not that into swimming” and that it was mostly the older brother who had been interested in it. She said the younger only did it because his dad was the coach. I thought she was crazy, but I had kind of put off the idea anyway…

Then came the high school swim team’s awards night. My swim coach was retiring after 18 years of coaching high school, so a sort-of surprise party was arranged to bring in as many old swimmers as possible and flood the audience at the awards night. (I made and brought 6 batches of kettle corn for the event!) It was there that his youngest son, who’s “not that into swimming” won award after award, and it was obvious that he was one of (if not the) fastest/best guy on the team. I concluded that my mom was undoubtably wrong and that I was doing some sort of swimming cookies after all.

(When I told the graduate this story, he laughed and said he was more into swimming than his older brother!)

I ended up just doing one swimming themed cookie, because too many designs would have made me crazy. These are my high school colors, with a “splash” of “pool” blue.

20120604-093834.jpg

I made graduation caps, stars, circles with our high school initials on them, and fancy plaques with the graduate’s name.

20120604-092705.jpg

At my high school, the girls wear red robes and the boys wear black.

20120604-092714.jpg

20120604-092738.jpg

Here are the swimming cookies. For those not immersed in the swimming world, the red and black dots are lane lines that are strung the length of the pool to separate the lanes. At my high school, our swim team had a tight budget, so our school colors lane lines only came out for special occasions like a swim meet.

20120604-092723.jpg

Here are all the cookies on the platter. I love how the blue gives it a pop!

20120604-092751.jpg

Oh yeah and I did one 2012 cookie. I wanted to do more but I thought it would be too fragile.

SF Giants Cookies!

I am so excited that these cookies finally had a reason to happen!

My hubby is a die-hard Giants fan and always has been. Naturally I had the choice to either get on board, or be forever miserable and bored and angry about the TV takeovers. Okay, so I still get that way, but only after so many days in a row.

I really enjoy going to the games, and I have gained quite the wardrobe of black and orange over the last couple years.

These cookies were super fun to make because I was given free range to make whatever I wanted. They are for my coworker’s dinner group, who were having a Giants baseball themed get-together.

I have all the necessary parts.

Balls & Bats…

Logos… I made these by printing and cutting out a logo, poking holes in the icing with a toothpick, then connecting the dots.

I’m sure I will be doing these again soon. I have so many more shapes I thought of after I had already finished baking.

I am taking a cake decorating class! I don’t know why I waited so long to do it. Thank you Kendra at The Royal Cookie for the motivation to sign up!

My girlfriend’s birthday was last week and I was SOO busy I was not able to make her something. My first cake decorating class cake is for her!

(Sorry there are some steps missing here, I was busy learning and not taking enough pics. I will take more next time!)

So many cookies…

I have been busy busy making sugar cookies lately. Like really busy.

Just thought I would share some pics rather than go into tons of detail about everything… enjoy!

20120227-084934.jpg

20120227-084944.jpg

Above are pictures of bridges and hard hats I made. I work at a bridge building company and some boy scouts came to visit to learn about engineering. These were their take-home treats! The hard hats are trimmed baseball hat cookies.

20120227-084915.jpg

Above are some monkeys I did for a little boy’s first birthday party. Brown food coloring and I are not friends. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

20120227-085008.jpg

The circles and onesies were for a baby shower. Too many boys I tell ya, we need some girls!

20120301-103917.jpg

The California’s were for my husband to take to work. He works for a company that makes camping and tour reservations for national and state parks. California parks just opened yesterday for reservations so he thought these would be a good addition to their potluck. He also works as an intern for the state of CA a couple days a week, so he brought a couple in for his coworkers there.

20120306-204732.jpg

These were for a surprise “baby is coming soon” party we had for a male coworker. They don’t know the sex yet and s/he is due in March, so we went with green!

20120306-210624.jpg

Made these bunco cookies for my grandma. The little guys are so fun!

20120310-074423.jpg

These cookies were for Cody’s Catholic confirmation. The silver crosses were iced first, sprayed with Wilton luster spray, then the rest of the cookie was iced.. Very carefully, haha.

There will be more cookies and other treats coming soon…

PS. I have been so busy that I didn’t have time to do St. Patty’s Day cookies. :(

Lingerie Cookies

So many people told me they love my clothing cookies I did a while back…

Well ladies…I have something new to add to your cookie closet!

I have been dying to make these ever since I bought the cutter months ago.. what better time than Valentine’s day?

Guess what? I was invited (well everyone was) to the Dollhouse Bake Shoppe Virtual Valentine’s Day Party!

Everyone “brings” something to the party, and we all get to marvel at the wonderful things others have contributed.

20120201-214518.jpg

These sassy cookies are my addition to the virtual party!

20120201-214508.jpg

Which one is your favorite?

I was favoring the sexy little number above… until I made this one lace up the sides:

I personally think it would be hilarious to tell your hubby you got him lingerie for Valentine’s Day… then see his face when you give him a cookie.

Too mean?

20120201-214513.jpg

While these wouldn’t be appropriate for kiddos, they would definitely be perfect for a bachelorette or bridal party.

I even made some little hearts to go along with them. A little bit of sparkle adds a whole lotta glam!

I can’t wait for another excuse to make more! I am really kicking myself for only baking 8 this time!
